Do you work for DIY Kitchens?

Nope, I'm totally independent and don't receive any 'kickbacks' or comission from any kitchen retailer.

Can you measure my room for me?

This isn't something I offer, I can however guide you through the process - it's not as hard as you think!

Can I order appliances from you?

This will depend on where offers the best price, if the best price is through one of my trade partners then yes. If the appliance is the same price online then you are best going direct.

What about sinks and hot taps?

Through my trade partners, I can get you great prices on beautiful and practical sinks and boiling water taps from Blanco and Quooker.

How do I pay?

For my service, I invoice in advance. For products purchased through trade accounts, I will also invoice you ahead of ordering. When ordering your kitchen through DIY Kitchens, I will place the order and you can then pay them over the phone or online.

What type of imagery can I expect?

Since becoming The DIY Kitchens Expert, I no longer use third party software to create DIY Kitchens - this enables me to keep my prices down. While the imagery isn't fantastic, you can log in and use the 360° viewer which people find very helpful. If you would like a set of ultra realistic renders of your final kitchen design, this is available for an additonal fee of £55.

Why should I use an independent designer instead of the free service at a showroom?

Showroom designers are often under pressure to hit sales targets, which can lead to "cookie-cutter" designs or unnecessary cabinets. Because I’m independent, my only goal is to make your space work for you and your budget.

I have a very tight budget - is it still worth hiring a designer?

Definitely! In fact, that's when a designer is most useful. I can help you spot where to save and where to splash out for the most impact. My fee is often offset by the money I save you!

What if I don't like the first draft?

Don't worry! Design is a process. My full service includes a series of drafts to make sure we get the layout and look exactly right. My fee includes 5 drafts but we can keep tweaking until it’s your dream kitchen.

Will my fitter be able to follow your plans?

Yes. My full design service includes a detailed set of notes specifically for your fitter. If they have any questions during the install, I’m just a phone call or message away to help clear things up.

How long does the whole design process take?

It can be as fast as you need it to be! If you have your measurements ready, I can often have a first draft back to you the same day. Most clients find they have a plan they love within a week of starting but some aren't ready to order for months after.

Do you only do kitchens?

While kitchens are my 'bread and butter', I also love designing bathrooms and utility rooms. I can also help with general "space planning" - if you're knocking down walls or extending, I can look at your floor plans to make sure the flow of the whole house works.

Are there any hidden costs?

Not at all. I’m a big believer in transparent pricing. My fees are fixed - starting from £60 for a sense check or £395 for a full design service.
