Independent DIY Kitchens Design Service

 Professional design, supplied for less

Let's be honest: DIY Kitchens is brilliant for your budget, but staring at that blank planner tool at 9PM on a Tuesday can feel a bit... overwhelming. You know you want the affordability of DIY Kitchens units, but you also want a kitchen that looks great and works in reality.

That's exactly where I come in.

I'm Gracie Davies, an independent kitchen designer who specialises in DIY Kitchens projects. I design kitchens that look expensive, function beautifully, and if you give me a budget - I'll stick to it.

Whether you’ve already played with the online planner or you’re starting from a blank page, I’ll bring a bit of calm, professional structure to the process: a clear process, practical detail, and straightforward decision-making.

Choose Your Level of Support

Service 1: The Expert Sense Check (£60)

A professional review of your DIY Kitchens online planner layout to help you avoid costly mistakes before you order.

This is ideal if you:

  • Have already created your kitchen in the DIY Kitchens planner
  • Want a second pair of expert eyes before spending money
  • Are open to exploring alternative layouts

You’ll get:

  • 2 hours of my time to review your DIY Kitchens planner layout
  • Changes made on a copied version of your plan so you can compare options
  • Checks for symmetry, practicality, potential cost savings
  • Notes on anything likely to cause issues
  • Suggestions to improve storage, proportions, and flow

Upgrade option: If you want to move into the full service afterwards, you can upgrade and pay the difference. Your £60 is credited against the full fee.

Service 2: The Full Design Experience (£395)

A complete bespoke kitchen design from scratch, built around how you cook, live, and use the space.

This is the most popular option if you want:

  • A confident layout from day one
  • Full support through the ordering stage
  • A set of plans/notes to show fitters when obtaining quotes
  • Up to 10% off the value of your units and doors (see T&Cs)

Includes:

  • An initial briefing call to cover style, priorities, budget, must-haves and further calls to discuss if needed
  • up to 5 design iterations to refine the final plan
  • Floorplans and elevations
  • Design notes that make the fitter’s job easier - including how to assemble bespoke elements

Service 3: Price Comparison (£60)

If you’ve had a showroom design done elsewhere (Wren, Magnet, Howdens, etc.) and want to compare like-for-like with DIY Kitchens, this service is for you.

I’ll recreate the proposed layout as close as possible in the DIY Kitchens planner so you can:

  • Compare pricing more accurately
  • Take the design back to the other supplier to negotiate the cost

You’ll get:

  • A total cost with delivery
  • Images of each elevation

What’s Included in Your Design Pack

Depending on the level of support you choose, your design pack can include:

  • To-scale floor plans (unit layout, appliances, key dimensions)
  • Elevations (wall-by-wall visuals for ordering and install)
  • Fitting notes for your installer
  • Guidance through the DIY Kitchens ordering and aftercare

Same day first drafts

For many projects, I can send a first draft the same day (especially for straightforward spaces).

Revisions are typically turned around within 2-3 days however I work through revisions in order of how soon the order needs to be placed, so please do give me an ordering deadline when we begin work.

The Bonus: Up to 10% Cashback

When I place your DIY Kitchens order, you are eligible for up to 10% of the value of your units and doors as cashback.

Example:

  • Full kitchen value with delivery £10,000
  • Units and doors value: £6,500
  • Cashback rate: 10%
  • Cashback returned: £650

It’s a nice bonus, but the main value is knowing your kitchen is properly planned before you spend thousands.
(T&Cs apply)

Why Work With an Independent Designer?

  • Personalised design: your kitchen should reflect your style and the way you live, not a generic template. I take the time to get to know you and how you will use the kitchen

  • Objective advice: I’m not tied to pushing a particular product mix, so the layout comes first

  • DIY Kitchens knowledge: I know their ranges, components, and the small details that make ordering and installation smoother.

The Important Bit: Measurements

I produce plans using the measurements you provide. You (or your fitter) must verify all measurements on site before ordering.

I cannot accept liability for errors, omissions, or costs arising from incorrect measurements or incorrect site information supplied to me.

Before ordering, you should confirm:

  • all wall lengths and ceiling heights
  • window/door sizes and openings
  • service locations (water, waste, electric, gas)
  • any irregularities (out-of-square walls, bulkheads, boxing-in, sloping floors)

If you’re not confident measuring, it’s worth getting your fitter to survey first. Measuring guidance is here: measuring guide.

More than just kitchens

If you’re renovating other parts of your house, I can help make sure they’re just as considered and practical.

  • Utility, Boot & Laundry Rooms: Whether it's a spice kitchen, a back kitchen, or just a really hard-working laundry space, I can help you get the layout just right.

    • Small (up to 4m²): £60
    • Medium (4–8m²): £120
    • Large (over 8m²): £200

  • Bathrooms: I charge a fixed fee of £395 for a full bespoke bathroom design. If we're already working on your kitchen together, I offer this at half price (£197.50).
